This is a replica of the medieval King Charles V Shield, heavy weight 20 gauge steel construction brushed antiqued painted finish and real brass accents. Comes with an attached chain so you can display it on your wall, and has a bracket for adding one or two swords on the back for display.

Roman emperor, ruler. He was Holy Roman emperor, 1519-56 and king of Spain (as Charles I, 1516-56), and archduke of Austria (as Charles I, 1519-21). THE HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE came to a climax in the reign of the Emperor Charles V. He was one of the most extraordinary monarchs that Europe has ever seen. For a time he had the air of being the greatest monarch since Charlemagne. In 1556 Charles abdicated all his titles and possessions and retired to a monastery in Spain.
