Description

16th Century Italian Mace
The mace developed from man’s oldest weapon, a stone topped club, to an elaborate weapon that did not need to breach the armor to cause injury. To an unarmored opponent the mace was extremely debilitating, shattering limbs and crushing skulls. For centuries the mace has been a symbol of power. European maces suggested wealth and status to their owners, however their use was not exclusive to the privileged. This mace has 8 flanges and is made from steel which has been blackened to a deep luster. The bottom of the shaft is wrapped in black leather for an improved grip. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®. Overall length of about 24".
