The coif was used by knights to protect their heads and neck when in combat. These coifs authenticate the weave pattern of the coifs worn in Europe.

Coif was the simplest head covering worn throughout the 16th and 17th century. At the time, head coverings varied in style from simple to complex. Today, there are far more existing samples of early 17th century coifs than there are from 16th century. All the surviving coifs of this time are greatly decorated. Chainmail was an effective and popular defense for its ability to stop cutting weapons from piercing the skin. The chainmail was weak in defending against wounds which could be more easily mended but strong against those to which the soldier was most vulnerable.

Perfect for reenactors or stage performers who need authentic looks, but don't need authentic weight! This extremely light mail utilizes aluminum rings, riveted for durability.
