For the Warrior at Heart: The Sword Key Chain
Perhaps you want to be prepared for the possibility that you’ll somehow be shrunk down to 6 inches tall and will need to battle your way to safety. Or, more likely, you just think swords are neat. In either case, it’s nice to be able to keep a decorative sword with your keys.
This key chain features a beautiful and intricately decorated sword, which is designed to look like a tiny longsword. The pommel is carved to resemble a cat’s head and sits atop a textured grip. The crossguard is straight with a diamond shape in the middle. Each end of the bar is bent at a 90% angle towards the blade, which would serve to catch the blade of a similarly tiny sword.
The blade itself is straight and comes to a point. While it doesn’t have sharp edges, the design follows that of a double-edged sword. The blade is further detailed with straight lines that follow the shape of the sword, giving the impression of a triple fuller.
Despite its small size, this sword is clearly designed with care and has very intricate detailing, from the pommel to the blade. It makes an attractive key chain that will make sure that your keys are easily recognisable and stand out from any others.
Epic Stories and Small Worlds
While we think of fantasy stories and heroes as being “larger than life”, this isn’t always literally the case. There are plenty of examples of stories and worlds that follow characters on a smaller scale. As in, literally on a smaller scale.
The less extreme example can be found in the Lord of the Rings. While hobbits are taller than 6 inches, they are still the approximate size of human children. This makes them easy to overlook, both literally and metaphorically, and they’re often dismissed as powerless.
But, as we know, the hobbits prove to be as heroic as their larger compatriots. Their stout hearts and steady minds allow the hobbits to be the key to defeating Sauron and his One Ring, forces that couldn’t be matched by Elves, Men or Dwarves.
But we can go smaller with our tiny heroes. The Redwall series written by Brian Jacques is a fantasy series that follows animals, such as mice, during their exploits. They fight epic battles and wield weapons, but just happen to be small woodland creatures.
Finally, we have different fantasy creatures that are usually shown to be very small, while still retaining intelligence and a measure of power. Fantasy fairies, while sometimes human-sized, occasionally take the form of tiny humanoid beings with insect-like wings.
Whether the setting itself is small, or the characters themselves are dwarfed by the world around them, the story can be as big as it needs to be.
