The Steel Grip of Evil: Dark Warrior Gauntlets

For fantasy LARPers, Cosplayers, and collectors, finding a good set of gauntlets can have a massive effect on an outfit or display piece. The gauntlets are the metaphoric and literal hand of any character, and a warrior character needs some epic gauntlets.

There are two varieties of this gauntlet, each with similarities and differences. Both gauntlets feature metal plates riveted onto a comfortable black suede glove, as well as a strap to secure the gauntlet to the wrist. They feature a primary plate that covers the back of the hand and wrist, and articulated fingers for a full range of movement.

The black variety of this gauntlet has a completely black finish and is made of rust resistant galvanised steel. The other version is mostly polished steel, albeit with a painted black oval set on each gauntlet. The polished gauntlet also has a more prominent knuckle-guard, but less dramatic ridges.  

Of the two, the black gauntlet is definitely most suited to the evil aligned characters. The polished gauntlet, while still intimidating, wouldn’t look out of place being worn by neutral or even good knight-like characters.

The Dark Warrior Archetype in Fantasy: Paladin of Evil

Paladins are a familiar concept to many of us in fantasy. They are knight-like characters, who wield magic along with their plate armor and powerful weapons. Often, paladins are associated with a Godlike being, or simply serve the force of good.

But there’s another side to this coin. Dark warriors are similar to paladins in that they are often decked in heavy armor and an equally heavy weapon, as well as magic. However, where paladins serve all that is light and good, dark warriors prefer the forces of evil.

Often, dark warriors wear blackened armor to demonstrate their black hearts. While a paladin may heal or defend their allies, the dark warrior uses more obviously evil magic. Perhaps they have life draining abilities or can even call upon a form of necromancy to help them in battle.

Sometimes a dark warrior is simply an evil human who has sworn themselves to evil, like a reflection of the paladin. However, sometimes they are a victim. Dark warriors may be undead soldiers risen to serve the bidding of their master, or perhaps they are burdened with a curse and fall to evil. Either way, they are dangerous.

There are two different versions of this product. The technical specifications of the Dark Warrior Gauntlets (Black) are as follows:

•         Material: 18 gauge galvanised mild steel, suede inner glove.
•         Colour: Black.
•         Care Instructions: Keep away from water. Clean with a metal polish and apply oil occasionally. Use leather care products for the fittings.
•         Size: Approximately size 10 glove. Gauntlet length, 13.5 inches. Cuff diameter, 12 inches.

The silver version of this product has the following altered specifications:

•         Material: 18 gauge mild steel, suede inner glove.
•         Colour: Polished steel and black paint finish.
•         Size: One size
