Early Medieval Norse cultures are a rich vein for fantasy inspiration. Ever since the Nordic revival of the 19th-century, fantastical Norse mythology and real-world Viking history have informed writers from JRR Tolkien to GRR Martin – and they can bring your fantasy roleplay to life. Epic Armoury has produced a brilliant range of Viking-inspired fantasy weaponry, king amongst which is the Dreki LARP Sword. A Drengr’s Best Friend

The Dreki LARP Sword is available in two sizes: a magnificent 40-inch arming sword, or a handsome 33 ½ inch shortsword. Both blades are configured as an Oakeshott Type X, a traditional Viking sword type which was made by Frankish smiths in the Carolingian Empire. The longsword has an additional feature: an aesthetic leather-style half-sheath, whilst the shortsword has a simple clean design.

The hilt design of the Dreki LARP Sword is a marvel of Nordic-inspired design. The cross-guard is a traditional short Norse cross. It is engraved with swirling serpents, in the ‘Urnes’ style of Viking art (named for the 11th century carvings on Urnes Stave Church, Norway). The hand-grip is a handsome simulated dark wood-grain, with a metal spacer. The pommel is a ‘five-lobed’ Late Viking style, with simulated gold/steel wiring. As well as a choice of lengths, the hilt is available in either a regal Gold finish, or in pitted Steel for a fearless drengr.

Viking Style; Modern Construction

Epic Armoury have used the most up-to-date materials and safety in the construction of the Dreki LARP Sword. It is cored with an 8/10mm fibreglass rod, and is made from cast closed-cell foam. It is latex-free, and a hard construction that will likely require your opponent to be armored (or stoutly clothed!) for use in combat – you should outfit yourselves with our functional Viking LARP armor.
