Girded With Steel: The Warrior Tasset Belt

Whether you’re LARPing, Cosplaying, or otherwise, a warrior character works especially well with a good set of armor. This tasset belt is available in two variants, one with an ordinary polished steel finish and one with a darkened finish, perhaps for the warrior with a darker heart. These tassets go especially well with the matching set of armor.

As a belt, rather than an ordinary set of tassets, you can wear this armor without even a cuirass to attach it to, making it incredibly versatile. The leather belt itself is riveted to three tassets, two covering each thigh and a centre tasset covering the groin area. The belt also has suspenders, which go over the shoulders to further support the weight of the tassets.

The two thigh tassets are made up of five curved steel plates, each riveted together and designed to help you move easily when in battle. The centre tasset has one large steel plate on the top, which is in turn attached to three smaller plates.

The Benefits of a Tasset Belt

Many tassets are designed to be connected in some way to a matching cuirass piece or breastplate, which makes sense as, mostly, they were historically worn as part of a full suit of armor. However, as LARPers and reenactment enthusiasts, sometimes we want a little more flexibility.

Having the tassets being instead attached to a belt provides us with that desired flexibility, as we are able to wear them even without a cuirass. Instead, they’re worn as their own piece. This belt in particular is especially good, as the shoulder supports distribute the weight of the metal and make it more comfortable to wear.
