Certain weapons in history are imbued with great status: the sword and the lance are symbols of chivalric heroism. But some are great levellers: cheap, easily manufactured, and even in the hands of a peasant they could slay the highborn. Our Steel LARP Mace is such a weapon. Designed to batter armored opponents into submission, Epic Armoury have reproduced a simple, brutal historically-accurate mace in roleplay-safe materials with gold-standard safety features. Authentic Medieval Design

Epic Armoury’s master artisans have design their mace head with five steel-effect ‘flanges’, each tipped with a wicked point to punch through armor. The shaft is grooved with multiple fullers – this is an attractive feature seen on many medieval weapons which reduces the weight and improves handling. The handgrip is wrapped with black split-leather, providing an excellent grip surface, either in gloves, gauntlets or barehanded. It is finished off with a steel-style pommel that could be used for a surprise strike in close quarters.

Anti-Armor Weapons in the Medieval Age

Our Steel LARP Mace is a roleplay-safe reproduction of a historically authentic Late Medieval mace. These devastating weapons developed as plate armor began to replace chainmail at the end of the 13th-century CE. Plate armor was designed very carefully by armorers to defend its wearer from cutting and stabbing attacks: curved armor plates would cause stabbing attacks to glance aside, and thick steel would frustrate sharp weapons. Thus, warriors began using crushing weaponry designed specifically to deal with armored opponents. Weapons like the war hammer and the halberd emerged – along with the mace.
