Our Adventurer’s LARP Short Sword is hand-crafted by Germany’s own Wyvern Crafts, the finest LARP weapon manufacturer in Europe – brought to us by their supplier Mytholon. This sword is from their Replica range, designed with an eye for historical detail to closely simulate weaponry from the medieval era. But where medieval weapons were destructive weapons honed from steel and wood, our Adventurer’s LARP Short Sword can be used safely in a light combat roleplay setting.

Every Inch a Noble Blade

Aesthetically, our Adventurer’s LARP Short Sword is straight out of medieval high fantasy. The safe foam blade simulates a fullered steel shortsword that would make the ideal side-arm for a rising squire or hard-bitten mercenary. The hilt appears to be made from burnished brass, featuring a handsomely downcurved cross-guard with a substantial quillon block that gives the hilt an elegant proportion. The handgrip looks like it is wrapped with real leather, and the pommel is a handsome brass color in a minimalist wheel-type. To look at, this weapon could be a flawless historical replica of a short 14th-century French or English arming sword. It’d match beautifully with our historical steel armor.

Rigorous Safety

However, deception is the craft of the LARP weaponsmith! In reality, our Adventurer’s LARP Short Sword is made from latex-free foam with a robust fibreglass core, rather than steel and brass. The hilt is an extremely rugged hard-plastic that has been hand-painted to be near-indistinguishable from a real medieval blade. The latex-free foam means that it is free from the disadvantages that have plagues latex-based foam weaponry, such as the breakdown of the latex surface that can occur in damp storage, known as ‘latex pest’ or ‘latex cancer’. It is a little harder than most other LARP weapon foams, and Wyvern recommend caution when duelling with unarmored opponents – but this also means that the sword is significantly more robust, dealing well with the rough and tumble of physical roleplay. Wyvern have worked with engineering firm IDV and the Materials and Testing Institute at the University of Stuttgart to develop their safety blade – so you know that you can spend less time worrying about your equipment and more time immersed in the world of roleplay.
