Our Elven LARP Blade draws on a wide variety of contemporary fantasy to fuse the identity and soul of elvenkind into a single blade. It is a single-edged weapon with a flowing double-curved blade: it curves up and back to a tip, with an incipient ‘parrying hook’ instead of a cross-guard to defend the hand. The handgrip is formed from a simple wrap of leather, and the pommel is the protruding tip of the sword tang. The blade is shot through with a subtle sparkle, and its overall appearance is of an alien, magical weapon, forged by a smith out of a single piece of starmetal.

Top-flight fantasy roleplay manufacturer Epic Armoury have ensured that only the finest materials and craftsmanship have gone into the creation of their Elven LARP Blade. The core of the weapon is an 8mm pure fibreglass rod, the gold-standard for impact-safe LARP weaponry. The blade is made by layering the core with soft closed-cell EVA foam, and finished with a thick top-coat of latex. This is Epic Armoury’s softest configuration of LARP weapon construction, resulting in a forgiving but durable surface that can be used safely in simulated combat. The handgrip is made from split-grain leather, which is extremely rugged and provides an excellent grip surface.

The Dark(er) Elves

Stylistically, our Elven LARP Blade departs from the styling of the High Elves as depicted in classic fantasy like Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, where they are shown to be extremely fine craftsmen, producing wildly intricate floral fretwork and gold-inlaid weaponry. Rather, it draws on an older Germanic and Celtic tradition of elves as fey woodland folk, somehow darker and more menacing.
